In approx. 1,000 years from now...Earth will become a desert over taken by global warming and negative impacts with technology. Because of this, the climate and living conditions will all be changed and alternated to different concepts. Life will be different for everyone if even alive. However, I did a lot of research with this challenge and although there is no ultimate fact of how Earth will be in the year 3020...it definitely relies on our imagination and our theory's based on how earth is changing right now. We are living in an industrial revolution and technology is making our lives better but making the Earth itself, worse. Because of this, it also effects what people will be wearing in the years to come...everything revolves around the planets condition.

With no doubt at all that I actually thought this over with being careful...I designed a wedding dress that responds to the living conditions people will go through in the future. Because we are making this design right now in the year 2006...we can ONLY use resources available now and prepare them for the future. We can’t use materials that are predicted to be invented...so that’s the challenge. My design is all about structure, form...shape, and is definitely inspired by the Arabic’s who live in Saudi Arabia. The movement of the design definitely reflects their style inspired by the climate. But like I mentioned in the journal replies...I believe the judging SHOULD BE based on:

IMAGINATION/CREATIVITY/CONCEPT IN DESIGN:
The concept I have is really a reflection of the Earth and peoples attitudes towards the Earth. People invent technology to make our lives easier...even though they know its destroying our planet, man obviously doesn't care and so this whole look shows what earth wishes it could be...natural, and free of technology and pollutants...and what earth really is...technology overruled, and structured civilization. To show this, Lipstick wears a gargantuan robe which cocoon’s her whole body and drapes over the spoke-like headdress crown at the top. It covers her face and body. I colored it in dark blue and light blue to symbolize the ocean...the most important part of earth. Without water, we wouldn't survive. The ocean covers and hides everything inside for a brief moment. Once the woman walks inside a church or shelter in which she would get married...she takes it off and reveals what earth really is...technology manipulating the earth and polluting. It features all the characteristics of technology by being structured, symmetric and even intricate which is exactly how governments rule...in a sophisticated set of laws.

AWARENESS PLUGGED INTO DESIGN BY CAUSES IN THE FUTURE:
Here's were the explaining truly begins with what I have in the design. Looking at the future is a long road down the path and like I said...earth will be a desert with global warming, and horrible climate conditions. The heat will probably be so powerful, it would be harmful for skin to be exposed outside of a shelter. I took awareness to all of these possibilities by choosing the right materials for the right purpose. The robe serves as a covering object...when walking outside; she has something to protect her from the suns rays. The sheer chiffon is lightweight and non-heavy...it can cover her face like a curtain. In the design, I kept it out of the way as you can see. The robe is structured with shoulder pads and sleeve buckles. Now...the wedding dress itself is seen after the robe is removed and she enters a shelter. Her veil is future-like. Its oddly shaped with leather lining the outside to connect the strong inside...the netting is made out of copper. This is actually possible because we use dish-stain removers and they are made out of copper net. The dress is made out of cotton jersey, which is the best choice in the heat because it absorbs any sweat occurring...it allows the skin to breath. The brass colored things on the shoulders and neck area are copper metals specifically designed for intricacy, style...and of course function. Metal conducts heat and it absorbs heat. However, once its absorbed long enough...it feels cold to the touch because of its conductive behavior resulting from atoms. This is all science. The metals are inserted with a plunging design right between the chests, which is lined with hardened clay, which is heat resistant. Now...hardened clay may break, that’s a fact. But a wedding dress is something only worn once in a lifetime so having any clay crack shouldn't be a problem. It’s something delicate placed in for decoration and texture-designing. It's smooth and lines well around metals sharp-dangerous edges. The huge copper headdress keeps the robe on her head at an elegant proportion...however, the metal also conducts the heat and serves as just another function for the hot weather. She also has copper metal inserts on her sleeves that are placed elegantly on...and on the leather belt as well as along the princess seams, which will be explained right below...

MERGING 3 STYLES TOGETHER AS A TEAM:
This was probably the hardest part in making this design because we have no clue what the concept of our styles would be like in 1,000 years...however, Chris informed us that we could just use concepts we have today and design them for the future. I had a rock n' roll styled designer...as well as a cute sportswear designer, which is casually, mass-produced clothing. The robe worn reflects my style and ms. rock n' roll at the most. The robe is somewhat flamboyant...Haute Couture worthy and has a lot of movement in the collar which is colored dark blue and which connects to the curtain-like hood. The shoulder pads are rock and roll as well as the sleeve buckles...these design details are usually placed like this on a leather jacket found in motorcycle shops. The buckles are closed with silver metals, which also conducts heat. It structures the robe and makes sure it’s not a flopping piece of chiffon. Without these leather treatments, the robe would look dead on her. The headdress is definitely me...were I added a sense of theatricality to her with the hanging embellished diamonds which reflect the sun and make it sparkle. The wedding dress is mostly my cute sportswear designer...with its extremely simple silhouette...its comfortable and fitted. The pattern is like pie...it's princess seamed. Except the seams have copper inserts inside which you'd find on handbags today...or tubing placed in the seam added for structure. Usually tubing is made out of rubbers or plastic material, but in the future...I molded metal for heat resistance and reflection. The only thing on the wedding dress itself that reflects my style is the intricacy and placement of the copper inserts along the sleeve and chest area. The belt is black leather yet again with hardened clay molded pallet. I would say that I merged 3 styles together in a very futuristic way and definitely used them more for the function of the design which I think is important.
